Daily Art Challenge: August 8

Our challenge today is to use a resist in our art.

One simple resist is draw an image on watercolor paper with a white crayon and then paint over top.  The crayon will resist the paint.

Another option is to use a candle.  Same principle.  If you want some fun and funky backgrounds spatter melted wax over the paper or canvas, cover with paints, inks, sprays-whatever you want.  You’ll see cool patterns from the melted wax.

Some other options are rubber cement, tape, waxed paper, or oil pastels.

Have some fun and explore easy resists in your own art work.
